Australia Retain Nathan Lyon for Bangladesh 2nd Test as Matt Renshaw Returns
Australia have confirmed their playing XI for the second Test against Bangladesh in Mackay, with Nathan Lyon retaining his place in the side. The Australian team had considered using an all-pace bowling attack, but the selectors ultimately decided to continue with the experienced off-spinner.
Australia have made only one change from the opening Test. Matt Renshaw has been included in the team, replacing Jake Weatherald. The change is aimed at strengthening the top order as Australia look to recover from their defeat in the first Test.

Nathan Lyon was involved in a selection decision with Scott Boland before the final team was confirmed. Australia had considered selecting another fast bowler because of the expected conditions at the Mackay venue. However, Lyon was eventually preferred and will provide Australia with a specialist spin option.
The experienced spinner has previously missed two pink-ball Tests when Australia opted for an additional seamer. His return to the XI gives the team a different bowling option alongside its strong group of fast bowlers.
Matt Renshaw is set to make his Test comeback after more than three years away from international Test cricket. His return follows a strong Sheffield Shield campaign for Queensland, where he averaged 49.9 during the previous season.
Australia will be hoping that Renshaw can add stability to the top order and provide support to Travis Head and the rest of the batting lineup.
Marnus Labuschagne has also retained his position despite continued questions over his recent batting form. The Australian selectors have decided to back the experienced batter and give him another opportunity in the second Test.
